*This position is located in Rosemont, IL, just outside of Chicago by O'Hare Airport. It requires the individual to be in-person 2x per week and does not provide a relocation package.

POSITION OVERVIEW AANA is the leading international membership organization for Orthopaedic Surgeons that perform arthroscopy and minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery. AANA is seeking an experienced Education Program Manager to oversee the planning and execution of their long-standing hands-on skills training programs. This position is responsible for the full lifecycle of in-person surgical skills programs, including content development, faculty coordination, logistical planning and post-event evaluation. The ideal candidate is a proactive project manager with experience in medical continuing education, budgeting, and collaboration with clinical experts and industry partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the staff liaison for a physician-led education committee focused on surgical training lab courses.
Oversee all aspects of surgical skills programs, including scheduling, agenda development, faculty recruitment, lab setup, assessments and CME documentation.
Design and manage timelines and workflows for course planning and delivery; track milestones and ensure timely completion of key deliverables.
Collaborate with clinical advisors and thought leaders to shape high-quality instructional content aligned with learner needs and emerging best practices.
Build and manage program budgets; forecast revenue and expenses, monitor financial performance and develop go/no-go scenarios when needed.
Facilitate collaboration with corporate partners to secure equipment loans, grants and in-kind support; manage associated agreements and documentation.
Coordinate logistics with lab facilities, AV vendors and event staff to ensure seamless program delivery.
Support the planning and implementation of joint programs with external partners and affiliated medical associations.
Champion innovation in skills education by integrating simulation, robotics, remote learning and other emerging technologies into the curriculum.
Ensure educational activities are fully compliant with relevant accreditation standards (e.g., ACCME).
Liaise with internal teams including marketing, finance, IT and operations to support program promotion and delivery.
Provide onsite event support and contribute to the success of the organization’s national conference and other high-profile education initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned by senior leadership.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to plan and direct multiple projects, budgets and resources simultaneously.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Ability to interface with volunteer leaders to shepherd projects and problem-solve with diplomacy and focus on AANA mission and individual project goals.
Must be an effective problem solver.
Ability to interact effectively and work congenially in a small office environment and with outside vendors.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Effectively work and collaborate with volunteers and other stakeholders at all levels.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard office equipment. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Majority of work is performed in a general office environment. Some day and overnight travel are required to participate at AANA events.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required.
3+ years of program or project management experience in healthcare education.
Proven ability to manage budgets, timelines and cross-functional teams.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage effectively with physicians, industry representatives and colleagues.
Knowledge of adult learning principles and/or surgical training methodology preferred.
Familiarity with CME accreditation requirements and simulation-based training preferred.
