AIAA, the world’s largest aerospace professional society, is seeking a Senior Manager, Technical & Integration Communities to lead strategic programs that support the brightest minds and most innovative groups in aviation, space, and defense.
In this high-impact role, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Membership Engagement, you will be the primary liaison for AIAA’s Technical Activities and Integration & Outreach Divisions—connecting professionals, aligning committee goals with the Institute’s mission, and building a stronger aerospace community.
What You’ll Do:
Drive Strategy & Innovation: Evaluate community health and activity, identify opportunities for improvement, and guide the implementation of innovative engagement tools and training.
Lead Community Engagement: Support technical committees and interest groups by organizing and participating in committee meetings, driving communication, and aligning their efforts with AIAA’s strategic goals.
Promote Integration & Outreach: Manage programs and events that foster technical collaboration and showcase success through multiple channels, including webinars, social media and other platforms.
Streamline Processes: Oversee governance updates, manage MOUs, and drive efficient reporting through platforms that support annual reports, committee applications, and awards.
Champion Growth: Analyze demographics, encourage inclusive participation, and help develop the next generation of technical leaders in aerospace.
Collaborate Across AIAA: Work closely with fellow staff and volunteers to ensure consistency, transparency, and alignment across the Institute’s communities.
Who You Are:
A skilled program manager with at least 5+ years of experience in a membership or association setting (Aerospace experience is a plus!)
A collaborative leader who thrives in cross-functional environments and can bring teams together toward shared goals.
An excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with a strong customer-first mindset.
A tech-savvy professional with experience in Association Management Systems, community platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and virtual engagement tools.
An agile and data-informed thinker with strong analytical skills and a sharp eye for continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
Experience with technical committee structures or technical organizations
Experience managing budgets and tracking metrics for success
Comfortable with public speaking, training, and facilitating both virtual and in-person sessions
Detailed-oriented and has the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
Ability to travel 3-5 times per year.
