DECA Inc., is a non-profit educational organization headquartered in Reston, Virginia, that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges across the globe.
The Director of Marketing + Communications will be responsible for the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of marketing, brand, communications relative to the strategic direction, positioning and engagement of the organization. The position works closely with the various departments to enhance member and engagement through the creation of high-value content and a coordinated and robust means of disseminating content across appropriate outlets, improving overall marketing strategy and positioning, and leveraging data and analytics in strategic decision-making. The Director of Marketing + Communications is responsible for providing leadership, vision and synergy among the Marketing + Communications Team.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications or a related field is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead organization’s brand strategy to position DECA as the premier Career and Technical Student Organization and communicate DECA’s value proposition across multiple audiences.
Develop long-term strategies for DECA’s omnichannel portfolio of marketing and communications assets including digital and print products.
Design and implement creative, cutting-edge, integrated, multi-channel, strategies and tactical campaigns for strategic objectives and product offerings. Collaborates cross-functionally with other departments to achieve desired results.
Collaborate with departments on the strategic development and implementation of integrated marketing campaigns to acquire new members and partners, promote annual campaigns and DECA products and services, elevate the DECA brand, boost revenue, and improve the overall positioning of DECA’s portfolio of products and services.
Lead content generation and storytelling to ensure timely, relevant communications across all organizational channels.
Identify, monitor and report on key performance indicators for strategic marketing and communications activities and leverage metrics to develop strategies to increase engagement.
Develop department calendar and track progress of projects. Ensure effective management of staff resources, high quality work product, accuracy and punctuality of deliverables.
Develop department budgets and manage them efficiently.
Provide leadership and mentorship to the Marketing + Communications staff in carrying out their responsibilities.
DESIRED SKILLS:
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Identify innovative solutions to challenges and adapting to changing market conditions.
Knowledge of communications, marketing and/or public relations techniques and best practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey DECA’s brand to stakeholders.
Proven project management and ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously across departments and organization.
Keen eye for detail, ensuring design elements are accurate, precise, and consistent.
Creative problem-solving skills to adapt to challenges and find innovative solutions.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS: This position has supervisory requirements.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copiers. Periodic lifting, pushing, and pulling of boxes and merchandise up to 50 lbs.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Periodic travel to conferences and meetings is required.
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, not eligible for overtime for time worked over 40 hours in a week.
