The Director of Certification role is responsible for executing the strategic direction, operational management, and continuous improvement for certification and recertification programs. This position oversees the certification team, ensuring seamless execution of program initiatives and alignment with organizational goals. The Director fosters collaboration with the certification-member board, external vendors, and senior leadership to uphold and enhance the program's excellence, credibility, and industry relevance. With a focus on best practices in professional certification, the Director of Certification ensures programs are robust, accessible, and aligned with evolving industry needs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct and continuously enhance the operations of certification and recertification programs to ensure alignment with industry best practices and organizational goals.
Conduct regular audits and oversee statistical analysis of program performance and financial health.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to uphold and advance program standards.
Formulate and oversee adherence to test standards and testing administration protocols.
Provide leadership and guidance to the certification team.
Manage and engage with the certification board and related committees comprising industry representatives.
Collaborate with internal departments to streamline administrative processes and improve cross-functional efficiency.
Initiate, negotiate, and manage vendor contracts to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service delivery.
Serve as the primary arbiter for certification-related customer service issues and consult with internal stakeholders.
Oversee onsite certification examinations and proctoring at in-house testing centers.
Manage the development and dissemination of certification program communications, including handbooks, marketing materials, and press releases.
Maintain and oversee application approvals, denials, and audit processes for all certification and recertification programs.
Ensure accurate maintenance of certification records and compliance with program requirements, including reviewing recertification logs.
Direct the job task analysis process to keep certification programs aligned with industry needs.
Develop and maintain processes to capture attendance, evaluate educational content and presenters, and determine education credits for events.
Work with marketing to promote certification programs effectively and enhance their visibility within the industry.
Prepare and manage the department operating budget, event budgets, and expense reports.
Provide detailed reports to the Board of Directors on program performance, financial, and strategic initiatives.
Stay informed on professional and industry trends to ensure programs remain current, relevant, and competitive.
Manage participation in relevant certification and education organizations to strengthen the company’s standing within the professional community.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS and at least 5 years of relevant experience and/or sufficient relevant work experience
