As our first-ever Chief Membership & Volunteer Engagement Officer (CMVEO), you will lead the #1 strategic priority: revitalizing our global membership and volunteer ecosystem to unlock growth, influence, and sustainability.
This is not a legacy position—it’s a once-in-a-career opportunity to build something extraordinary from the ground up. Sigma has never had an executive leadership team like this, and we’re intentionally dismantling old hierarchies to make room for collaboration, empowerment, and excellence. As CMVEO, you will have the support of an aligned, forward-looking Executive Leadership Team—including our Chief Nursing Officer, CFO, and Chief Marketing & Communications Officer—to co-create a new vision for how we serve, grow, and engage our members and volunteers worldwide.
A Day in the Life
As the CMVEO, you’ll lead one of Sigma’s largest teams, encompassing global membership services, chapter operations (across 700+ chapters worldwide), a robust call center, volunteer coordination, and regional outreach. Your day will blend visionary strategy with tactical execution. You may be shaping our new Member Value Proposition with consultants in the morning, meeting with global chapter leaders in the afternoon, and closing the day aligning cross-departmental strategies with Marketing, IT, and Communications to deliver a world-class member experience.
You’ll also serve as Sigma’s internal ambassador, helping our 60+ staff members understand why membership is every department’s priority—and showing them how they can be part of that movement. You’ll be a polished presence to our Board of Directors, a coach to your high-performing team, and a catalyst for bold change that balances tradition with transformation.
You Will Thrive in This Position If You…
Hold a Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential and have a proven track record of leading major organizational turnarounds in association or nonprofit membership models
Are energized by complexity, scale, and global scope—and have successfully led engagement strategiesacross diverse geographies and cultures
Know how to balance data and storytelling—able to define metrics and dashboards while also inspiring people to see their role in the bigger picture
Bring high emotional intelligence andexecutive polish, with experience navigating board relationships, leading internal transformations, and building trust at every level

This is a remote-first executive role with periodic in-person presence expected—typically aligned with monthly CEO visits and strategic planning sessions at our Indianapolis office and international travel as needed.
