Overview: The Executive Director/Account Executive is a leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations, strategy, and overall success of assigned association clients. This position serves as a leader for 2-3 associations, providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and staff leadership to meet client goals. Specific duties may vary based on the nature and needs of each client.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Operations & Membership
Lead the day-to-day operations of assigned association clients.
Oversee membership programs, communications, and engagement strategies.
Ensure high-quality delivery of programs, products, and services.
Maintain organized and accessible client records and information.
Monitor trends and recommend new initiatives to support client growth.
Ensure client services remain within the agreed scope of work, proactively communicating with the client and AMPED leadership if work falls outside scope.
Foster positive relationships and open communication with members and stakeholders.
Provide guidance and problem-solving support to client leaders and volunteers.
Governance & Board Relations
Serve as the primary liaison to Boards of Directors and volunteer leadership.
Support board and committee operations, ensuring efficient governance practices.
Keep boards informed of key organizational updates and strategic opportunities.
Facilitate strategic planning initiatives and oversee implementation of strategic goals.
Collaborate with board officers on official correspondence and legal documentation.
Finance & Fundraising
Oversee the development and management of client budgets.
Ensure financial compliance and alignment with organizational goals.
Support fundraising initiatives, sponsorship development, and donor relations.
Meetings & Education
Oversee the planning and execution of client meetings, conferences, and events.
Direct client education programs, workshops, and professional development initiatives.
Lead and Support the Client Staff Team
Manage a cross-functional staff structure aligning with strategic priorities and within the approved budget.
Foster a positive, engaged work environment by setting clear roles, expectations, and performance standards while supporting team morale.
Oversee the creation, organization, and retention of essential documents and materials to maintain consistency and excellence.
Ensure AMPED staff provide exceptional support to volunteers, members, partners, and other stakeholders.
Act as a supportive leader by helping staff expand their skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive in their roles.
Set clear expectations, address challenges proactively, and recognize team successes.
Take responsibility for staff actions, decisions, and results to uphold AMPED’s commitment to accountability and client success.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; however, equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in senior management, preferably with associations or nonprofit organizations.
Qualifications:
Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential preferred.
Knowledge of association and nonprofit leadership principles.
Proven success working with a board of directors.
Strong understanding of financial management practices.
Entrepreneurial mindset with strong sales, sponsorship/fundraising, and strategic planning experience.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience with Association Management Software (AMS) or CRM systems preferred.
Familiarity with membership marketing, email platforms, and social media strategies.
Event planning experience is a plus.
Passion for delivering a positive member experience.
Other Requirements:
Travel is required for this role to attend client meetings and conferences, member events, and industry trade shows. Some evening and weekend work may also be necessary to support client initiatives.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Occasional lifting, up to 50 lbs.
This hybrid position is from our office in Middleton, WI or Alexandria, VA. In-office expectations dependent on location.
