The Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association (WMCA) is seeking candidates for President of our Association. We intend to fill this position as soon as practical.
The WMCA, founded in 1941, is a non-profit trade association representing the interests of truck, towing, milk haulers and motor coach owners within the State of Wisconsin. The association has over 1,000 members, ranging from independent contractors with one truck to companies with thousands of trucks. The WMCA is affiliated with the American Trucking Association (ATA) in Washington D.C. and works directly with them on federal issues. Additionally, the WMCA addresses legislative issues directly within the State of Wisconsin.
The President of the WMCA serves under the direction of the Board of Directors. Has full authority and responsibility for managing the staff, its headquarters and all programming and functions of the association as outlined below, as well as other duties as required.
Primary duties include:
Oversight of daily operations of the WMCA
Staff
Onsite supervision/management of staff
Oversee employee evaluations
Oversee compensation/benefits of staff
Oversee/enforce employee policy manual
Oversee customer service activities of staff
Financials
Prepare and monitor annual budget
Review/prepare monthly financials for Board review
Assist auditor as needed
Assist Treasurer as needed
Membership
Engagement with new and existing members
Engagement with Membership committee and their goals
Planning and Marketing
Direct consult on projects
Engagement with Board of Directors
Legislative (Federal and State)
Serve as spokesperson for association
Advise Board of Directors on pertinent legislation
Responsible for state and federal lobby activities
Serves as direct liaison to
Board of Directors
Executive committee
Membership committee
Nominating committee
Legislative committee
Foundation committee
All others as necessary
Assist Board of Directors and staff in carrying out WMCA’s mission
Oversee strategic planning facilitation and implementation
Committee/Board structure and operations
Prepare management reports for the Board of Directors
Oversee Association and industry legislative activities
Leadership training programs and opportunities
Previous management experience with fiscal accountability required
Demonstrates effective leadership and business skills
Demonstrates effective collaboration and negotiation skills
Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrates knowledge of the trucking industry
Experience with legislative activities including lobbying
