Position Overview: NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association based in Herndon, Virginia, is seeking a Senior Manager of E-Learning. The Sr. Manager of E-Learning is part of the NAIOP Education department and oversees the project management and instructional design duties of developing and reviewing our growing on-demand course library. The position serves as the project leader for all projects related to new online courses, as well as reviewing and revising existing courses. The Sr. Manager of E-Learning manages NAIOP’s two Certificate programs by reviewing applications, granting digital badges and certificates, and promoting the programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Serve as the overall project management and instructional design lead for e-Learning course development and maintenance. Works collaboratively with the e-learning team (instructional designers, members of the education staff and team of subject matter experts (SMEs) to plan, design, develop and manage NEW online courses that fit the needs of the NAIOP membership. Content will be guided by the content team. This person manages the overall workflow once the course outline has been developed from course outline through full implementation and launch. Appx. 1-3 courses per year.
• Serve as the overall project management and instructional design lead for e-learning course reviews/updates to EXISTING online courses. Works collaboratively with e-learning team (instructional designers, members of the education team and team of SMEs) to develop, monitor and follow a project plan to comprehensively review and update all course content and materials to align with modern adult learning and e-learning best practices. Appx. 1-3 courses per year.
• Work with subject matter experts and external instructional designers to develop new course content – slides, videos, scripts for recording, assessment tools, case studies, and infographics – to align with adult and online learning best practices.
• Develop and manage the e-learning budget and drive top line revenue growth while managing operating expenses to meet or exceed performance expectations, in collaboration with the VP for Education.
• Support the Education department’s budget goals for course registrations and promotes course packages for corporate training.
• Develop, analyze and communicate metrics and analytics that measure e-learning related ROI and impact and effectiveness of the learning programs.
• Collaborate with the e-learning team in researching, discussing, prioritizing, analyzing and adapting to trends in e-learning and adult learning, including analyzing new technologies for their effectiveness and relevance and presenting recommendations.
• Effectively and regularly communicate progress related to all online courses – new and in the process of being revised – to all key stakeholders.
• Manage NAIOP’s Certificate programs, including reviewing applications, granting digital badges and certificates, and promoting the programs.
• Participate actively in discussions with the NAIOP marketing team to provide ideas and suggestions for new techniques and audiences to expand the market reach of online courses.
• Work closely with the marketing team to keep the online learning pages of our web site updated and ensure maximum engagement.
• Manage the relationship with the instructional design firm, including making recommendations for changes, when appropriate. Manage the vetting, interviewing and hiring process for this firm, when appropriate.
Additional Responsibilities: • Participate actively and cooperatively on the Education team of NAIOP, including participating actively in regular team meetings and strategy sessions. • Travel (approximately 10-15%) to NAIOP’s conference and other events, as needed, to support the Education department with logistics related to educational sessions and project tours. • Serve as a backup for webinar production for internal staff. • Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the Association.
Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree required. • 4+ years of experience in e-learning project management and instructional design experience. • Sharp understanding of adult learning styles and the latest best practices in online educational delivery/instructional design techniques. • Strong skills in project management, writing and editing, and overall communication. • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining thorough records. • Professional demeanor and exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to work effectively and collaborate with colleagues at all levels, members, and vendors. • Experience working with volunteers and/or committees. • Experience with Articulate Storyline 360 or similar course development software. • Skilled in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint. • Hybrid work schedule, with a required three days per week in NAIOP’s Herndon, VA office.
