The American Gem Society (AGS) is currently hiring a passionate and dynamic individual to join our team as a Community Ambassador in the Membership Department. You will play a crucial role in strong connections with our members, ensuring their satisfaction, and fostering a sense of community within the esteemed gem and jewelry industry. Role will be eligible for commission relating to team initiatives. Local candidates will be eligible for a hybrid schedule and non-local candidates will be eligible for a fully remote schedule. Some additional hours and weekend travel may be required with this position. This position offers a base salary plus commission.
The AGS is a nonprofit trade association that serves a passionate community of fine jewelry retailers, designers, wholesalers/manufacturers, and service providers dedicated to building consumer trust in the jewelry industry. The full-time, exempt Community Ambassador is a primary revenue driver for the American Gem Society (AGS) with a strong focus on sales, relationship building, and engagement. This role is responsible for member recruitment and retention, as well as driving advertising, event, and program sales. This position requires frequent travel to meet members and prospects, attend events, and serve as the face of AGS in the gem and jewelry industry. This position is eligible for incentive opportunities tied to team initiatives and performance metrics.
Responsibilities:
Member Recruitment and Sales
Execute a comprehensive sales strategy to recruit new members, sell advertising, and promote events and programs to meet revenue goals.
Develop and manage a robust pipeline of prospects, guiding them through the sales cycle from lead generation to closure.
Strategically manage an assigned territory to maximize outreach and sales opportunities.
Track and report progress on recruitment and sales efforts to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Member Engagement and Retention
Build strong, ongoing relationships with new and existing AGS members to foster loyalty and satisfaction.
Serve as the primary point of contact for members, keeping them informed about AGS updates, opportunities, and resources.
Identify at-risk members and implement tailored strategies to improve their experience and drive retention.
Operational Excellence:
Accurately process membership applications and renewals while maintaining up-to-date member records.
Collaborate with internal teams to analyze member data and identify areas for improvement.
Work closely with the assigned Community Ambassador Coordinator to ensure seamless administrative support.
Brand Representation and Industry Presence
Represent AGS as a brand ambassador at key industry events and trade shows
Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, and share relevant insights with members to demonstrate value and expertise.
Coordinate with the Community Ambassador Manager and other internal teams to ensure successful event participation and follow-up.
Reporting and Collaboration
Prepare regular reports on recruitment, retention, and sales activities, as required by the Community Ambassador Manager.
Collaborate with Membership Department management and other departments to ensure strategic alignment.
Provide input on policies, procedures, and solutions related to membership operations.
Travel and Expense Management
This role requires frequent travel to meet with members, prospects, and industry partners, as well as to attend conferences and trade shows.
All approved travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the organization’s expense reimbursement policy.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage with diverse stakeholders.
Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in using communication tools, CRM systems, and office productivity software.
Knowledge of the gem and jewelry industry is desirable but not mandatory.
Demonstrates a genuine passion for providing exceptional service and fostering community engagement.

Required Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Proven experience in sales, membership management, customer service, or a related role.
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience with membership database software is a plus.
