The WateReuse Association’s Communications Coordinator will support the implementation of the organization’s communications and marketing strategy, which includes message development, brand identity, and digital media. The candidate will craft informative and compelling content and materials for a myriad of channels including website, thought leadership articles, e-newsletter, e-mail marketing, social media, and presentations, ensuring a high level of quality and consistency.
The Communications Coordinator will also build and manage partnerships with internal colleagues to develop communications that support membership development, advocacy, and event marketing. This position reports to the Director of Communications and works directly with staff at all levels across the Association.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Develop content for various content channels including weekly newsletters, social media, and marketing communications.
Support weekly e-newsletter development by researching and identifying relevant news stories, soliciting updates from colleagues, and writing compelling content. Manage layout and distribution of newsletter using the Association’s email marketing system.
Coordinate a calendar for marketing emails, develop creative marketing messages, and coordinate messages from marketing partners.
Make regular updates to the WateReuse website and regularly review the website to ensure that content is timely and up to date.
Develop and schedule social media posts to engage members and educate the public.
Provide support to WateReuse state and regional sections, including e-newsletters, social media posts, and conference marketing.
Coordinate with external vendors and consultants that provide graphic design, website maintenance, and communications platforms.
Report on key performance indicators including social media and website metrics, and propose plans to continually improve communications outputs.
Qualifications
Exceptional writing skills and the ability to translate complex technical information into digestible and accessible content;
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as communications, journalism or English literature.
Minimum of 1-2 years of communications experience in a work setting that includes managing competing deadlines, creating marketing materials, and learning new digital tools.
Required Skills
Exceptional written, oral, proofreading, and interpersonal skills; and the ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences.
Ability to write quickly under deadline.
A broad understanding of current digital technologies and strong knowledge and proficiency in data software: Microsoft Office Suite (required), CRM experience (strongly preferred).
Experience coordinating design and graphic decisions across the organization, particularly website design and content management (WordPress).
Previous experience using email marketing platforms and social media platforms.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in teams.
