Overview The Director of Events & Sponsorships is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and management of various meetings and events that align with our organization's goals. Additionally, they also handle the curation, sales, and management of sponsorships. This position requires an energetic, detailed-oriented individual who can effectively coordinate and execute multiple projects while building and managing stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in meeting planning and sponsorship management.
Duties
Meeting Planning & Event Management
Plan and execute meetings and events from conception to completion, ensuring all details are meticulously managed.
Develop and manage budgets, ensuring financial objectives are met while maximizing profitability.
Coordinate logistics including venue selection, catering, audiovisual needs, and transportation, including the negotiation of contracts with vendors.
Oversee on-site event management, ensuring all aspects run smoothly and efficiently.
Utilize strong organizational skills to manage multiple events simultaneously while adhering to timelines.
Develop and adhere to event/meeting timelines with the ability to communicate to stakeholders and the HBA team prior to, during, and after the event/meeting.
Examples of Meetings & Events: Annual Housing Forecast (with speakers), Fall Golf Tournament, MAX Awards Gala, etc.
Relationship Building & Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, members of the association, and their peers to foster long-term, organizational success.
Build partnerships with member companies to solicit sponsorship opportunities.
Able to communicate clearly and effectively internally and externally to stakeholders through various methods: phone calls, virtual meetings, and/or emails.
Collaborate with members of the HBA of Great Austin. This may include taking members' direction and shaping it to meet the current needs of the association.
As a staff liaison to assigned councils and committees, develop relationships with chairs and association leaders including development and management of agendas and meeting minutes.
Skills
Comprehensive understanding of event/meeting management principles from planning through execution.

Effective time management abilities to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills that are effective, clear, and concise.
Proficient in budgeting techniques to manage event finances effectively.
Knowledge of banquet operations which may include hotel+hospitality management.
Effective problem solver who can quickly adapt and manage to change.
This role is ideal for an individual who thrives in a dynamic setting on a small team, comfortable wearing "multiple hats", and able to accept feedback from stakeholders and adapt accordingly.
In-Office Hybrid Schedule Required to be in the office 2 days a week (Tuesday+1 additional day) and as needed for in-person meetings. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm.
Qualification Details College degree is preferred. However, experience in lieu of a degree is acceptable. Experience with nonprofits and associations is a plus but not required. Knowledge of the home building industry is not required.
