The Events Director’s role is to lead the strategic planning, execution, and evaluation of all ASNT events, including the annual conference, research symposium, board of directors' meetings, and various committee meetings. This role is responsible for overseeing the ASNT Events Department, managing a dedicated events team, and working collaboratively with ASNT leadership to ensure events are aligned with organizational goals and enhance member engagement. The Event Director will play a pivotal role in expanding ASNT’s events business, establishing the organization as a leader in Nondestructive Testing (NDT) conferences and events, and ensuring ASNT remains at the forefront of event trends.
The Director will stay current with, and regularly evaluate, trends in event planning and assess their relevancy to ASNT. Additionally, they are responsible for identifying gaps in ASNT’s event portfolio and making necessary adjustments, including but not limited to, adding new events or sunsetting those that no longer meet member or organizational needs. This proactive approach will ensure that ASNT’s event offerings remain relevant, engaging, and aligned with the evolving needs of the NDT community.

Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for ASNT’s events portfolio, ensuring alignment with ASNT’s mission, vision, and business goals.
Identify opportunities for new events, partnerships, and revenue streams, staying abreast of trends in association events and the NDT industry.
Serve as the primary liaison to senior leadership for event-related strategy and initiatives, providing insights and recommendations for future events and improvements.
Oversee all aspects of event planning and execution, including budgeting, scheduling, site selection, vendor negotiation, logistics, program development, and attendee experience.
Ensure that all ASNT events are delivered on time, within budget, and at a high level of quality, driving a consistently positive experience for attendees, sponsors, and stakeholders.
Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors, venues, and service providers to optimize partnerships and ensure the highest standards of event delivery.
Set performance goals, conduct regular reviews, and ensure professional development opportunities for team members.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support and promote ASNT events, including marketing, communications, finance, content, and membership departments.
Develop and manage the Events Department budget, including individual event budgets and projections.
Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for new event products.
Track and analyze financial performance, ensuring revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled.
Report on financial and operational performance, identifying areas for cost savings and revenue generation.
Collaborate with ASNT leadership, members, and committees to ensure events align with member needs and organizational priorities.
Ensure clear communication of event goals, timelines, and roles to all stakeholders and participants.
Develop metrics for event success and conduct post-event evaluations to assess outcomes, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement.
Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance the quality, efficiency, and impact of ASNT events.
Innovate by introducing new event formats, technologies, and engagement strategies to enhance the attendee experience.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, extensive relevant experience at a director level in event management or a related field will be considered.
Possession of, or actively working towards, a relevant professional certification, such as CMP (Certified Meeting Professional), CMM (Certification in Meeting Management), CEM (Certified in Exhibition Management), or CAE (Certified Association Executive), is required.
Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in event management, including experience leading a team, full budget creation/successful execution, and overseeing large-scale events.
Proven track record of strategic planning and execution in a non-profit or association setting, with a focus on member engagement and event revenue growth.

Knowledge of the NDT industry or experience working within a scientific or technical association is a plus.
ASNT operates in the eastern time zone. Candidates working from the eastern or central time zones are preferred.
