POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a driven and experienced Sales Executive who is passionate about deeply understanding our members’ needs, engaging in impactful conversations, and delivering solutions that drive positive change. This role closes deals—while also cultivating relationships, listening closely to business issues, and presenting solutions that align with our members’ goals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Active Listening & Discovery: Engage with members through deep listening to truly understand their business challenges, objectives, and aspirations. Focus on uncovering both the stated and unstated needs, so that you can align our solutions to their unique situation.
Solution-Oriented Sales: With a clear understanding of our offerings and the needs of the member, present solutions that address their problems and help them achieve their desired outcomes. Your goal is to demonstrate the tangible value our association brings to their business.
Consultative & Collaborative Selling: Approach every conversation as a co-creation process, where your expertise is used to help members make informed decisions. Guide them in recognizing how our solutions directly support their business strategy and success, while fostering a sense of partnership. Overcome objections through strategically guiding them to our solutions.
Relationship Building: Be a resource and advisor to the President & CEO, making recommendations for innovations that further the members’ success while building revenue for the organization to fulfill its mission. Keep members in focus and be deeply invested in their success—always looking for ways to enhance their experience and help them grow.
Closing with Integrity & Authenticity: Lead the sales process from initial conversation to successful deal closure, ensuring that every engagement is aligned with the member’s interests. Close deals with integrity, focusing on building a win-win outcome for both parties.
Ongoing Improvement: Continuously seek ways to enhance your sales approach through feedback and learning. Embrace a growth mindset and feedback as a gift, always refining your craft to better serve the members and the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field or equivalent experience.
Proven experience in sales, particularly in a consultative or solution-based sales environment. Ability to overcome objections while helping others embrace change.
Strong track record of building and maintaining long-term relationships with staff and members.
Exceptional listening, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse individuals.
Strong ability to identify underlying business challenges and pain points.
A passion for delivering value and creating positive outcomes for others.
Ability to effectively present and simplify complex solutions in a way that resonates with the member’s business needs.
Strong alignment with conscious leadership principles, including transparency, accountability, and service.
Strong personal drive and discipline for working from home and accustomed to tracking goals and reporting progress and outcomes to senior leadership.
80% sales/20% administrative (includes reporting, tracking, and database)
Travel 10-20%

The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association (HPBA), based just outside of Washington, DC, is the North American industry association for manufacturers, retailers, distributors, representatives, service firms, and allied associates for all types of fireplace, stove, heater, barbecue, and outdoor living appliances and accessories. HPBA provides professional member services and industry support in government relations, events, market research, education, certifications, consumer education, and industry promotion.
